Socio-humanitarian and language disciplines

The Department "Social, humanitarian and linguistic disciplines" was founded in August, 2018. Its staff provides teaching of social and humanitarian disciplines (Kazakh, Russian, English and German languages, modern history of Kazakhstan, philosophy, sociology, political science, cultural studies) that are necessary for the formation of a competitive specialist. The Department "Social, humanitarian and linguistic disciplines" prepares specialists in "Kazakh language and literature" and "Translation Studies".

The head of the Department is Vladimir Schneider, candidate of philological sciences, associate professor.

5В011700 – "Kazakh language and literature" is a professional educational program that is guided by peculiarity of academic groups, the mission of the university, in accordance with the requests of potential consumers of the program. 
Objectives of the educational program: On the basis of innovative technologies capable of carrying out the process of training and education, in-depth cultural awarenessis training to meet the requirements of modernity.

The sphere of professional activity is:
- education (pedagogical) - in secondary schools, lyceums, gymnasiums;
- research, experimental research (research institutes);
- literary and creative (in literary, cultural institutions, publishing houses);
- organizational and managerial (gymnasiums and lyceums and colleges);
-production and management (in state bodies, at various enterprises, at production facilities and in the documentation department);
- literary adviser;
- as editor in print media;
- aspeaker;
- an employee of the media.

Qualification and maintenance of graduates of the specialty "Kazakh language and literature" is approved by order of the Minister of Labor and Social Protection of RK No.273-P dated November 22, 2002, marked in accordance with the qualification indicator of specialists and other employees.

Graduates of the specialty 5B020700 "Translation Studies" are awarded qualifications “Bachelor of Humanities” in 5B020700 - "Translation Studies".

The purpose of the educational program 5В020700 "Translation studies" is formation of a new approach to the training of translation personnel. This is a multi-level training of a modern translator competitive in the labor market, competent, responsible, fluent in profession and oriented in related fields of activity. A graduate is capable of effective work in specialty at level of world standards, ready for continuous professional growth, social and professional mobility. In addition, according to the results of the National rating of IKAPQE, the OP “Translation studies” took 8th place, and in the National Rating of the IAAR - 6th place.

The mission of educational program is to create most favorable conditions for training of highly qualified, competitive specialists in translation studies.

The sphere of professional activity of graduates are:
-translation(written translation of multi-genre texts and documents, interpretation of negotiations, international meetings, conferences);
- organizational(organizing and conducting various kinds of events, creating professional and public organizations);
-production and management (management and / or performance of professional duties (various types of translation) in relevant units of domestic, foreign and joint ventures and organizations);
- information and analytical (social and political analysis, business correspondence, reports, reviews, situation forecasts, editing translations);
- research(gathering and processing of practical material, preparation of reports and articles on the problems of translation studies and intercultural communication).
