At Turan-Astana University, the Department of Business Administration Week took place from November 11 to 15. The opening ceremony marked the start of a series of events aimed at deepening students' knowledge and fostering their professional competencies in the field of business administration.
The week began with the formal opening of the Department Week, dedicated to the National Currency Day of the Republic of Kazakhstan. The event gathered students, faculty members, and guests interested in enhancing economic and financial knowledge related to the national currency and business administration.
The opening was graced by speeches from R.A. Aimkulov, Dean of the Graduate School of Business and Digital Technologies; A.Zh. Zhunusova, Head of the Business Administration Department; B.M. Iskakov, Ph.D., Associate Professor; and N.K. Kadirova, Senior Lecturer. They emphasized the importance of studying economic processes in Kazakhstan and highlighted the history and significance of the national currency, the tenge.
To promote and sustain financial literacy, in line with Government Decree No. 338 on "Informing the citizens of Kazakhstan about new financial instruments and practical application skills," a meeting was held with A.M. Isalinova, a financial consultant at Halyk Life, a subsidiary of Halyk Bank. The topic of the discussion was "Financial Literacy."
On November 12, an intellectual game, "Lord of Finance," was organized to deepen students' knowledge in finance, develop economic thinking, and enhance financial literacy.
The game allowed participants to practically apply the knowledge gained during their studies, demonstrate financial analysis skills, and strengthen team spirit. It was met with great interest from students, who noted that the game helped them better understand the nuances of Kazakhstan's financial system and the importance of financial literacy in modern life. The event's experts and judges included Dean R.A. Aimkulov and Head of the Department A.Zh. Zhunusova. The game was moderated by Senior Lecturer N.K. Kadirova.
The winning team, "TAU," demonstrated a high level of preparation, quick reactions, and effective teamwork. The winners and participants received certificates, diplomas, and memorable prizes from the Department of Business Administration.
On November 13, a seminar-lecture on "Financial Support Tools for Small and Medium-Sized Businesses in Kazakhstan" was held for students. The seminar was conducted by doctoral students from our university: Kulyamukhamed Kusayranovich Abdikalikov, Azamat Zhanseitov, and Botagoz Saruarkyzy Tusupbayeva. The seminar covered state financial support mechanisms for small and medium-sized businesses, access to financial tools, and details of the government’s comprehensive support program implemented through the Damu Entrepreneurship Development Fund.
On November 14, a meeting with high school graduates was held, attended by 11th-grade students from School-Gymnasium No. 14. The purpose of the meeting was to conduct career guidance, introduce university programs, and expand their knowledge of economic theory. The following activities were conducted:
- A tour of Turan-Astana University's academic buildings;
- Familiarization with university programs;
- Meeting with active students from the Business Administration Department;
- An intellectual game, "Lord of Economics."
The intellectual game awarded prizes to the winners, and participants received diplomas and letters of appreciation.
The organizing committee included A.Zh. Zhunusova, Head of the Department; M.E. Bespaev, Senior Lecturer; and N.K. Kadirova, Senior Lecturer. Active students included Dana Bridun, Zeynat Beldyeubayeva (MN-23-1); Aida Aidarkhanova, Diana Raimova (F-23-1); Anel Rysbekova (GMU-22-2); Bogdan Okunev, Miras Dastanov, Ruslan Mukhitbekov, and Rustam Tulegen (MN-22-2).
On the same day, third-year students of the Business Administration Department, accompanied by Senior Lecturer S.A. Shoimbayeva, visited the National Bank of Kazakhstan Museum. The exhibit showcased banknotes and coins designed by the National Bank in collaboration with leading Kazakhstani artists. Historical insights highlighted that tenge is not Kazakhstan's first currency, as money has been used on its territory for centuries.
On November 15, 2024, National Currency Day, a roundtable on "Kazakhstan's National Currency: Yesterday, Today, Tomorrow" was held. The guest speaker was Z.A. Aliev, Head of Corporate Business at Freedom Bank Kazakhstan JSC, who shared insights into commercial banking in Kazakhstan.
A meeting was also organized with G.B. Bainazarov, the first Chairman of the National Bank of Kazakhstan, economist, and financier. He delivered a report on "The Formation and Development of Kazakhstan's Banking System." The meeting was organized by Professor U.Zh. Aliev's Research Center for Epistemology at Turan-Astana University.
The final event of Business Administration Week was a celebration of the 70th anniversary of Gulnar Karimovna Saparova, a professor at the Business Administration Department. Gulnar Karimovna has authored over 140 scientific works, including monographs, 20+ textbooks, and research articles indexed in Scopus and national journals. Under her supervision, six candidates of economic sciences (Ph.D.) have successfully defended their dissertations in economics.
