On November 20, 2024, within the walls of “Turan - Astana University”, Law and Humanities Higher School organized a guest lecture with Amirova Zaru Yryskalikyzy, an expert practitioner in simultaneous translation, Tengizchevroil LLP.

         The purpose of the meeting was to obtain practical knowledge about the principles of simultaneous translation and to form abilities and skills in the interpreter’s profession of the academic program “Translation Studies”. 

Due to the development of science and technology, foreign policy and business, current issues of the interpreting profession in the 21st century were discussed during the lecture.

Great attention was paid to the development of such competencies as stress-resistance, clear articulation, quick response, listening skills, oratory skills, ethics and confidentiality, psychological flexibility etc. In addition, features of the simultaneous interpreter’s work and the difficulties of the operational information transmission at diplomatic meetings, international conferences, symposiums and business negotiations were considered.

The guest lecture aroused great interest among the audience, questions were discussed and full answers were given regarding simultaneous interpretation. The students expressed their opinion about the need to hold such meetings on a regular basis.
