Vice-Provost of Turan-Astana University, S. Smoilov, participated in a conference dedicated to the innovative development of Kazakhstan

On January 20th, at Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, the opening ceremony of the scientific-practical conference titled "Development of University Science as a Necessary Condition for Innovative Development of Kazakhstan" took place.

During the conference's opening, Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Sayaсat Nurbeck, delivered a welcoming speech. He emphasized the importance of science and innovation, as well as the creation of a diversified, technological economy, in line with the vision outlined by the Head of State. He discussed the current development of universities, highlighting that by now, branches of five leading foreign research universities have been established in Kazakhstan. To ensure sustainable financing for university science, a concept for a separate law on endowment funds has been developed, along with a roadmap for establishing endowment funds in five pilot universities in 2023.

The event was attended by representatives from governmental bodies, university rectors, directors of research institutes, academics, scholars, professors, and students.

The conference's proceedings continued for two days, featuring panel sessions that addressed the most relevant topics: "Organization of Student Research Activities," "Normative-Legal Framework for Ensuring Scientific and Technological Development," and "Innovative University Ecosystem: Successful Case Studies of Technoparks, Research Hubs, Engineering Centers, and Business Incubators Implementation."
