Students enrolled at TAU University come from diverse cultural, geographical, and social backgrounds. Accordingly, TAU students are able to access education that takes into account their individual needs. Inclusion is therefore embedded in all aspects of student life and is supported by the culture, policies, and everyday practices of TAU.
Inclusive education is the provision of equal access to education, taking into account the diversity of special educational needs and individual capabilities.
The development of an inclusive education system at TAU is one of the priority areas and is implemented in accordance with the State Program for the Development of Education for 2011–2020, as well as the Plan for organizing psychological and pedagogical support for inclusive education at «Turan-Astana» University for 2016–2020.
Main areas of activity in inclusive education:
- Creating conditions and a barrier-free environment at the university for persons with special educational needs and disabilities;
- Ensuring architectural accessibility of internal premises, sports and cultural facilities;
- Psychological preparation of students in an inclusive education environment;
- Scientific, methodological, and organizational support of inclusive education;
- Enhancing the social and spiritual potential of the university through the implementation of inclusive education.
The faculty of the Department of «Pedagogy and Psychology» are involved in the implementation of the inclusive education program and have undergone training in providing psychological assistance under the auspices of the Ministry of Health and Social Protection.
To increase the physical activity of students with special educational needs, the following activities are carried out:
- Yoga classes in the simulation counseling room;
- «Thanatotherapy» courses in cooperation with the Astana Institute of Integrative Family Psychology;
- Psychological trainings and consultations using body-oriented psychotherapy techniques to address physical tension and psychological barriers.
Inclusive educational environment
The Turan-Astana University establishes an inclusive educational environment that ensures equal access, participation, and successful learning for all students and staff, regardless of their individual characteristics and needs. The inclusive environment is aimed at eliminating barriers in learning, communication, and participation in university life. The University seeks to create conditions in which every student feels accepted, respected, and is provided with the opportunity to fully realize their academic potential.
