In the framework of the University’s research activities, the International Laboratory of Regional Studies and Urban Planning was created as an independent structure within the Department of Science and Commercialization.

During the work of the International Laboratory, a research-project study, funded by the MES of the Republic of Kazakhstan in 2018-20120, on the theme: “Prospects for the demographic development of the regions of Kazakhstan in the context of “Mangilik el”” is being conducted.

In the framework of cooperation with the National Research University of the Higher School of Economics, a research study funded by the MES of the RK in 2015-2017 "Prospects for the socio-economic development of cities of Kazakhstan" was conducted and continues its work this year.

A textbook "Economics of the cities of Kazakhstan", 2017. and the monograph "Prospects of social and economic development of cities of Kazakhstan", 2018 are published.
