City Debate Tournament among high school students for the TAU Rector's Cup

On April 8-9, 2023, Turan-Astana University became the center of the school debating movement in the capital of Kazakhstan. Within the walls of our university, the city debate tournament among high school students for the TAU Rector's Cup took place. The debates were held in the British Parliamentary format. Twenty-four teams participated, accompanied by their school supporters, spectators, and supervising teachers. In total, there were about 100 debaters at the tournament.

At the opening ceremony of the tournament, Shyntayeva S.S., the Director of the Marketing and Sales Department at TAU University, addressed the participants with a welcoming speech, introducing our university and the educational programs we offer.

The main judges of the tournament were renowned debaters: the head of the "Speaker" debate club at TAU University - Kalikov R.K. and the lecturer at the Department of Design, Service, and Tourism at TAU University - Nigmanova T.Yu.

We are proud to note that among the tournament judges were graduates of our university who learned debating within the walls of TAU University when they were students – Diana Raisova, Tatiana Nigmanova, and others. This is a clear indication that the university pays great attention to the development of the debating movement and there is a generational continuity.

The participants of the debate tournament appreciated the professionalism and high level of judging, interesting resolutions, a comfortable and friendly atmosphere, and also expressed warm words of gratitude to the Rector of TAU University - Gulzhamal Alkenovna Japarova.
