Research activities
The research activities of the faculty members of the “Business Administration” department are aimed at achieving the main goal – training specialists with modern professional skills and qualifications in the fields of economics, management, and public administration.
The number of scientific publications by the department’s faculty shows a positive growth trend every year. The number of published monographs and scientific articles in journals indexed in Thomson Reuters and Scopus with a non-zero impact factor (“Actual Problem of Economics scientific economic journal,” “Life Science Journal,” “Economy of Region”), as well as in journals recommended by the Committee for Quality Assurance in Science and Higher Education of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan (“Economics: Strategy and Practice,” “Economics and Statistics,” “Turan University Bulletin,” “National Academy Bulletin”), and journals indexed in the Russian Science Citation Index (Bulletin of the Kazakh University of Economics, Finance and International Trade, “Statistics, Accounting and Audit,” “Turan University Bulletin,” “Public Administration and Civil Service,” “Social and Economic Systems,” “Toraighyrov University Bulletin. Economic Series,” etc.) has increased.
The department’s faculty develops and publishes scientific-methodological and educational materials, textbooks, and multimedia educational complexes. These are complete, unique, and востребованные products that ensure flexibility, adaptability, and variability in both content and educational technologies. Among them are: Professor U.Zh. Aliyev’s textbooks “Fundamentals of the General Disciplinary Theory of Science” and “Subject and Method of Theoretical Economics”; Associate Professor T.K. Bablanov’s “Development of Human Capital in the Context of Integration Processes”; Associate Professor G.K. Bekbusinova’s “Macro- and Microeconomic Analysis”; Associate Professor B.M. Iskakov’s “Corporate Governance”; and Associate Professor G.K. Bekbusinova’s “Price Formation,” designed for undergraduate and graduate students in the state language.
Faculty members actively register their scientific achievements in the form of copyright certificates and patents. For example, copyright certificate No. 64447 dated 19.11.2025 was issued for S.A. Rakhmetaliyev’s textbook “Economic Analysis of Accounts Receivable in a Budgetary Organization”; No. 64155 dated 10.11.2025 for the textbook “The Role of Public Service Centers in Implementing Employment Policy at the Local Level: Challenges and Opportunities. Theory of Finance”; and copyright certificate No. 59865 dated 14.06.2025 for K.K. Belgibayev’s textbook “Structural Changes in the EAEU Economy and Their Impact on the Development of Kazakhstan’s Economy.”
The department cooperates with the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of National Economy, the Ministry of Agriculture, the Ministry of Energy of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Public Development Department of Astana city, the “Baikonur District Public Service Center” (Astana), “Kazakhstan Temir Zholy” JSC (Astana), “Zheldorexpertiza” LLP, the National Chamber of Entrepreneurs of the Republic of Kazakhstan “Atameken,” as well as leading commercial banks and enterprises of Kazakhstan and Astana. There are implementation acts from the Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Kazakhstan dated 13.11.2017 No. 5-1-9/5096-4 for the textbook “Innovation Management” by Associate Professor B.M. Iskakov; and from the Coalition for “Green Economy” and G-Global dated 06.05.2017 No. 324 for the textbook “Risk Management.”
The department carries out international exchange of students, master’s and doctoral students, and faculty with foreign partner institutions. Graduate and doctoral students undertake research internships at leading universities in Bulgaria, Azerbaijan, Spain, Russia, and other countries. For example, students Zhagiparov N.A., Manabayev A.M., Bekenova M.A., Kasatkin M.E., and Saifunova S.A. completed an international research internship at the Omsk Regional Institute on the topic “Innovative Methods of Personnel Management”; Ospan A. studied at Varna Free University (Bulgaria); Sagynbekov E. and Balanbayev D. studied at Global Career Institute (Turkey).
The “Business Administration” department organizes public lectures by invited foreign and domestic scholars, representatives of the business community, scientific seminars, and round tables. Students attended specialized courses delivered by international scholars, including: “Current Issues of the Labor Market, Tourism, and Economic Development Trends in Bulgaria and Kazakhstan” (Stella Baltova, Bulgaria); “Business Management” (Oscar García de Serdio, Spain); “Urban Economics” (I.N. Ilyina, Russia); “Application of Modern Software Packages in Research and Final Qualification Works” (T.A. Dubrova, Russia); and a course on management and IT project management (Medeni Tunc Durmus, Turkey).
Guest lectures with practitioners are also held. On November 21, 2025, a round table titled “Modern Challenges for Business in Kazakhstan. What Should Be Done?” took place. On December 4, 2025, a guest lecture titled “How Work Will Change in the Next 5 Years and Why Fast Learners Will Win” was delivered.
In addition, Doctor of Economics, Professor O.Zh. Aliyev was awarded the “For Distinguished Labor” medal in 2025.
Students, master’s, and doctoral students of the department actively participate in research work. The department hosts a student research club “Business Club,” supervised by Candidate of Economic Sciences B.M. Iskakov. Monthly meetings include project presentations and discussions on current issues in modern economics and business process organization. Students and graduate students also participate annually in regional, national, and international academic competitions.
Based on research results, students and graduate students present reports at scientific club meetings, round tables, and international and national student conferences.
