Academic council
In its activities, the Academic Council of the University is guided by the Constitution of the Republic of Kazakhstan; the Laws of the Republic of Kazakhstan "On Education" and "On Science"; decrees and decisions of the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan; regulatory documents of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan; the University Charter; decisions of the Academic Council; orders and instructions of the Rector and other authorized persons; internal regulatory documents and the Regulations on the Academic Council.
The activities of the Academic Council are based on the principle of transparency and collective discussion of issues within its competence.
Chairperson of the Academic Council – Rector, Guljamal Japarova.
Deputy Chairperson – First Vice-Rector, Aitzhan Abdyrov.
Scientific Secretary – Ryskeldу Aikеnova.
The Academic Council organizes its work based on an approved work plan for the academic year. Meetings of the Academic Council are held monthly in accordance with the approved plan and are duly recorded in minutes.
The objectives of the Academic Council are:
Creating the necessary conditions for students and faculty to successfully implement professional educational programs;
Ensuring financial support and strengthening the material and technical base of the university;
Promoting the further development of the university.
The competence of the Academic Council includes:
Approving the organizational structure of the university;
Introducing amendments and additions to the University Charter;
The creation, reorganization, and liquidation of academic and scientific structural units (laboratories, departments, Higher Schools, etc.);
Defining the development strategy of TAU;
Making decisions on all fundamental issues regarding the organization of educational, research, and economic activities of TAU;
Hearing annual reports from the Rector, Vice-Rectors, and heads of structural units on the methods and forms of academic, research, educational, financial, economic, informational, and international activities;
Reviewing and recommending monographs, textbooks, study guides, and teaching materials for publication;
Making decisions on the transfer of students from the fee-paying department to educational grants and to external forms of study;
Approving research topics and supervisors for Master's students, as well as scientific consultants for Doctoral students regarding dissertation research;
Organizing the oversight of the financial and economic activities of TAU;
Determining the procedure for using extra-budgetary funds and identifying areas for reinvesting income generated through paid educational services and the sale of products;
Approving and awarding academic and honorary titles, named scholarships, and prizes;
Considering the nomination of TAU employees and creative teams for government awards and honorary titles;
Reviewing other current issues of university activity that require a collegial decision.
