SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT COMMITTEE
The Sustainable Development Committee within Turan-Astana University is an internal collegial body of TAU that develops and implements the university’s sustainable development policy, integrating environmental, social, and governance (ESG) aspects into educational, research, and administrative activities and organizing their implementation.
The Committee’s main activities are aimed at embedding the principles of sustainable development into the academic process, scientific research, and everyday university life. It organizes events such as environmental campaigns, seminars, and conferences that raise awareness among students and staff about global challenges, thereby fostering a culture of responsibility and sustainable thinking.
Key objectives of the Committee:
- Defining the university’s sustainable development strategy and its implementation.
- Integrating sustainability principles into educational programs.
- Enhancing students’ environmental awareness through education and outreach, as well as developing an ecosystem.
- Promoting a “Green University” and developing an inclusive environment.
- Implementing principles of transparency, ethics, equality, and diversity.
- Developing initiatives to reduce the university’s environmental footprint, including energy efficiency, waste recycling, and responsible resource use.
- Collaborating with external organizations and participating in international projects.
- Preparing ESG reports and developing improvement measures.
The Committee at TAU includes members of the university’s leadership and student representatives. A sustainability coordinator serves as a link between students, staff, and the Committee, facilitating the implementation of sustainable development goals.
