Bolysova Ulzhalgas – Prize Winner of the Republican Olympiad in Fashion and Clothing Design

Student of the “Turan-Astana” University, Bolysova Ulzhalgas (Design-22-1), won second prize at the annual Republican Subject Olympiad in Fashion and Clothing Design held in Almaty at the T. K. Zhurgenov Kazakh National Academy of Arts. According to the prize winner: «The task was to reveal the theme announced on the day of the competition while maintaining the composition. It was necessary to convey architecture through form and the materials we selected using the draping method, ensuring they matched the theme and helped to reveal it.  The support of my academic supervisor - Tursun Marzhan Mukhitkyzy -helped me focus specifically on the theme, avoid being distracted by other directions, and decide on the choice of architecture and petroglyphs. In addition, she demonstrated and explained the essence of the draping method» said Ulzhalgas.

The winner’s mentor, lecturerer of the Department of Design, Service and Tourism, Tursun Marzhan Mukhitkyzy, noted that the student’s success at such a high level was the result of her readiness to work simultaneously on both material and graphic aspects, as well as her persistent preparation. The decision to use the draping method and compacted materials proved to be a unique approach to conveying architecture through imagery. Moreover, spray-painting certain elements of the image was a very appropriate solution and allowed the work to appear more original. The student managed to emphasize the most important details on site without disturbing the composition, which was an extremely important aspect.

          The Olympiad results reflect the high level of training of our students and serve only as a starting point. We continue to actively develop their practical skills, integrating achievements into their future professional activities and inspiring them toward new creative successes.
