Designing a Sustainable Future: TAU Students Implemented a Public Administration Model

The Department of Design, Service, and Tourism hosted an innovative educational event led by Professor S.Atikeeva. The session, dedicated to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), was conducted in an unconventional interactive press conference format. This allowed second-year students from the Tourism, Restaurant and Hotel Business, and Vocational Training programs to move beyond theory and apply their knowledge in a practical environment.

The hallmark of the event was deep role-playing simulation: participants took on the roles of "Ministers" representing key sectors of public administration. This approach enabled students not only to analyze the UN global agenda but also to experience the real weight of responsibility behind governmental decision-making.

The discussion, moderated by Sofia Ayupova (student of group T-24-2), focused on the most pressing issues for modern society: health and well-being (SDG 3), quality education (SDG 4), and gender equality (SDG 5). Sofia expertly coordinated the proceedings, maintaining a high level of professional dialogue between the «ministries.»

Through reasoned presentations, these future specialists proposed innovative ideas and shared their vision for the sustainable future of Kazakhstan. The press conference format fostered critical thinking, public speaking skills, and the ability to address complex socio-economic and environmental challenges.

The atmosphere of professional interaction reaffirmed the effectiveness of Turan-Astana University’s practice-oriented teaching methods, which aim to cultivate responsible civic leadership and prepare a new generation of professionals
