Responsible Tourism for the Future: TAU Hosts Scientific and Practical Training

In celebration of the day that unites professionals and travelers around the globe, Turan-Astana University places a special focus on the practical implementation of sustainable development principles.

On September 24, 2026, the Department of Design, Service, and Tourism hosted a scientific and practical training session timed to World Tourism Day. The central theme of the meeting was the discussion of the initiative "Responsible Tourism as a Tool for Biodiversity Conservation and Achieving SDGs."

Vera Voronova, Executive Director of the Association for the Conservation of Biodiversity of Kazakhstan (ACBK), served as the keynote speaker of the event. Her expert presentation focused on how the modern travel industry can effectively balance economic objectives with the preservation of Kazakhstan’s natural heritage and the global Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Training participants reviewed real-world case studies of integrating environmental standards into tourist routes, discussed strategies to minimize human impact on unique ecosystems, and explored principles for supporting local communities.

The event drew a wide audience, bringing together undergraduate and graduate students, faculty members, and everyone passionate about environmental management and the future of the service sector. The interactive format allowed attendees not only to gain up-to-date, first-hand knowledge but also to discuss the development prospects of ecological and responsible tourism in our country.

Such gatherings reaffirm TAU’s status as a platform where academic science is closely intertwined with addressing the real-world, practical challenges faced by society and the state in the field of ecology.
