Digital Transformation: Turan-Astana University Launches Winter School on Artificial Intelligence
Head of State Kassym-Jomart Tokayev has repeatedly emphasized that the development of artificial intelligence will become a decisive factor in national competitiveness over the next decade. The declaration of 2026 as the Year of Artificial Intelligence in Kazakhstan tasks the academic community with more than just mastering new tools; it calls for a profound transformation of the educational environment. Turan-Astana University is actively engaging in the implementation of this national strategy by integrating advanced technologies into daily practice.
From January 12 to 14, the University organized a series of practical sessions aimed at integrating AI into the educational process. The centerpiece of the program was the practical training "Artificial Intelligence in Science and Education," designed for the systematic mastery of cutting-edge digital technologies.
The training program covers a wide spectrum of topics, from fundamental principles to applied implementation in the classroom. The introductory course on trend analysis and the use of AI in education is led by D.E. Nam, a PhD candidate in Computer Science and a Senior Specialist at the global IT company EPAM Solutions. Working at the intersection of academia and the international technology sector, the speaker helps participants explore how global IT trends are transforming classical teaching methodologies.
As a logical extension of the theoretical foundation, intensive sessions were held for the faculty of the Higher School of Business and Digital Technologies (HSBDT) and the Higher School of Law and Humanitarian Sciences (HSLHS), focusing on the practical application of neural networks. The training team, led by A.S. Konev, Director of the Digital Transformation Department, along with lead web programmers E. Bakhytzhanuly and S. Berdimurat, demonstrates specific automation tools and modern capabilities for generating educational content.
This comprehensive approach allows the university faculty to not only keep pace with technology but to actively implement it into daily pedagogical practice, enhancing the quality of the educational process in accordance with modern demands.
