«Reading Nation»: Republican Reading Conference Held at Turan-Astana University
Turan-Astana University hosted the inter-university readers’ conference “Reading Is the Foundation of Civilization” as part of the national “Reading Nation” reading marathon.
The conference aimed to increase young people’s interest in reading, promote fiction, broaden students’ horizons, and strengthen cultural and intellectual ties among higher education institutions.
Students from a number of higher education institutions across the country took part in the event and shared their views on the works they had read. Participants were assessed on the quality of their research, their ability to analyse a literary work, the originality of their perspective, their speaking skills, and the depth with which they explored the topic.

The conference increased young people’s interest in literature, encouraged a culture of reading, and fostered creative ties among students. Participants demonstrated their ability to interpret literary works in depth, express their ideas coherently, and engage in meaningful discussion.
At the end of the event, the winners and prize recipients received awards, and all participants were thanked for their contribution. The “Reading Is the Foundation of Civilization” conference once again affirmed that books are an essential value contributing to an individual’s spiritual and intellectual development.
Students from higher education institutions in Kokshetau, Petropavl, Oral, Pavlodar, Semey, Shymkent, Kostanay, Karaganda, and Taraz also submitted videos and substantive presentations and took part in the conference remotely.

The national conference became an important cultural and educational platform for strengthening intellectual and cultural cooperation among higher education institutions and increasing young people’s interest in reading.
