The Department of Language Communication and Translation is a structural unit of the Turan-Astana University. The mission of our department is the formation of general cultural and professional competencies of students and undergraduates of Turan-Astana University, ensuring a high level of social and professional mobility, adaptation to the market environment and innovations, capable of self-realization in the context of Kazakhstan's integration into the world community. The purpose of the department is the formation of professional and socio-personal competencies of future specialists, as well as the promotion of advanced academic ideas, the training of competitive specialists with high educational and moral potential.

Objectives of the department:

developing competencies and skills among students necessary to continue their education in specialties;
introduction and use of the latest educational technologies in the educational process and ensuring the quality of teaching;
development of the scientific potential of the faculty of the department;
improving pedagogical skills and advanced training in the context of the University’s transformations;
involving students in the field of intellectual and research activities;
spiritual, moral and aesthetic education of students.
To advance the scientific and research capacity of the department’s academic and teaching staff;
To enhance pedagogical excellence and promote continuous professional development in alignment with the University’s strategic transformations;
To actively involve students in intellectual pursuits and scientific research activities;
To contribute to the spiritual, moral, and aesthetic education of students.

Philosophy of the Department of Social and Humanitarian Sciences and Language Disciplines

The Department of Language Communication and Translation Studies is based on innovation, creativity and striving for high quality. We encourage research and the development of new concepts, as well as teach practical skills necessary for a successful career in a rapidly changing and evolving field. Our goal is to train leaders who are able to make a significant contribution to the development of language communication and translation, taking into account modern challenges and aspects. The department conducts training in 2 bachelor's degree programs, 1 master's degree program (in the scientific and pedagogical field).

The department offers academic training in three undergraduate educational programs and three graduate-level master's programs (scientific and pedagogical areas).

The Department of Language Communication and Translation Studies has high scientific and pedagogical potential. The scientific and pedagogical potential of the department currently includes: 1 Doctor of Sciences, 4 candidates of Sciences, 30 Masters. All teachers involved in the implementation of the department's educational programs are qualified in accordance with their training profile and have a high level of scientific and pedagogical qualifications. The teachers of the department are engaged in research work in the following areas: history, cultural studies, pedagogy, psychology, sociology, philology, philosophy. The department prepares specialists with deep knowledge in the field of social sciences and humanities, as well as language skills, in order to effectively cope with the challenges of the modern world and contribute to various fields of social activity.

As part of the funding of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan for 2023-2024, the teachers of the Department of Language Communication and Translation Studies, Professor K.M. Abisheva, won a grant on the topic “Studying the ethnic conceptual sphere of the people and thinkers of the past through approaches, principles, methods of cognitive-ethical linguistic synergetics - new humanitarian knowledge”.
