General Information

 

The world of tourism, design, and service is changing faster than ever. Digital technologies, global competition, and the development of creative industries are shaping new requirements for professionals.

Today, we train a new generation of specialists who are capable of working in a dynamic international environment, creating innovative projects, and developing the hospitality industry and creative industries.

The department has formed a highly qualified academic and teaching staff, ensuring a high level of training for specialists in the field of creative industries, service, and tourism. The department includes 1 Doctor of Sciences, 3 Candidates of Sciences, 1 PhD, 2 Honored Workers of Arts, 7 specialists, and 19 master’s degree holders, which reflects the significant scientific, professional, and creative potential of the team.

The combination of experienced scholars, recognized figures in the arts, and young specialists makes it possible to effectively implement educational programs, integrate modern approaches in the fields of design, service, and tourism, as well as actively develop the department’s research and project activities.

The educational environment of the department combines academic knowledge, practical projects, and interaction with the industry. We develop students’ strategic thinking, creativity, and entrepreneurial skills, enabling them to successfully realize themselves in the fields of tourism, design, service, and cultural projects.

Special attention is given to the development of:

 digital competencies and modern technologies;

research skills and innovative thinking;

project activities and practice-oriented learning.

The department implements bachelor’s degree programs in the fields of design, tourism, and service, and master’s degree programs in tourism and restaurant and hotel business.

Vision

Within the next 3–5 years, we aim to become one of the leading educational and research centers in the field of tourism, design, and service in Kazakhstan and Central Asia.

Our vision includes:

development of international educational programs and academic mobility;

 creation of laboratories and creative studios for students’ project work;

 expansion of partnerships with the tourism, hospitality, and design industries;

development of scientific research and innovative projects in the field of the creative economy.

The philosophy of the department is based on innovation, creativity, and quality. We encourage the exploration and development of new concepts, as well as teach practical skills necessary for a successful career in this dynamically developing industry.

Educational Programs

In the field of design

The program prepares creative specialists capable of transforming ideas into visual solutions. Students master modern design tools, develop artistic thinking, and create projects for brands, businesses, and urban environments.

In the field of tourism

The program is focused on training specialists for the global travel industry. Students study tourism product management, destination marketing, and tour organization, forming skills for creating unique travel experiences.

In the field of restaurant and hotel business

The program reveals the world of the hospitality industry — from hotel management to restaurant service. Students study management, service technologies, and international hospitality standards.

In the field of decorative arts and ethnodesign

The specialty combines traditions and modern design. Students study artistic techniques, national ornaments, and cultural heritage, creating modern projects based on ethnic motifs.

In the field of directing

The program is designed for those who want to create events, cultural projects, and visual stories. Students study the basics of directing, script thinking, and event staging.

Environmental and Interior Design

Environmental and Interior Design is an educational program aimed at training specialists capable of creating functional, aesthetic, and comfortable spaces for living, work, and public activity. Students study the fundamentals of architectural design, composition, color harmony, ergonomics, materials science, and modern visualization technologies.

Master’s Programs

Master’s Program “Tourism”

The program prepares experts and researchers in the tourism industry. Master’s students study strategic tourism management, sustainable development, and modern trends in the global tourism industry.

Master’s Program “Restaurant and Hotel Business”

The program is focused on training managers for the hospitality industry. The curriculum includes strategic management, innovations in service, and the development of competitive hotel and restaurant projects.

Functions of the Department

For students of the Department of Design, Service and Tourism, many opportunities and resources are available:

1.                 Educational programs: The department provides various study programs, including bachelor’s and master’s degrees.

2.                 Lectures and seminars: Students have access to lectures and seminars covering current topics in design, service, and tourism.

3.                 Practical classes: Courses include practical work that helps students develop skills and experience in their field (using various materials).

4.                 Research projects: Students participate in research projects aimed at in-depth study of topics and development of new concepts.

5.                 Equipment and resources: The department provides access to necessary equipment, software, and library resources.

6.                 Internship opportunities: Students can participate in internships and practical training in companies and organizations related to design, service, and tourism.
